Diamond e-Infrastructure

NW-GRID is used as a testbed for the development of a computational analysis infrastructure for Diamond. The Diamond Light Source is claimed to be the largest single investment in science in the UK for 30 years. The DLS Web site is here: DLS Web site.

The Diamond e-Infrastructure deployment is being project managed by staff at Daresbury. All documentation, including specifications of work packages and time scales, are documented on the projects TRAC Wiki at TRAC Wiki. Note, you need permission to view this site.

The computational framework for Diamond will consist of the following components which are being used elsewhere for NWGRID:

It will also include a number of applications which are being deployed and used/ tested on NW-GRID including: the CCP4 protein structure analysis suite; materials science codes CASTEP, CRYSTAL and DL_EXCURVE; etc.

Combining experimental data analysis with simulation is a powerful way to enhance scientific productivity.
