Daresbury NW-GRID Cluster Architecture

The Daresbury NW-GRID Cluster comprises four "modules" or racks. Three compute modules contain 32 nodes each giving a total of 192 processors or 384 compute cores. There is 2MB of memory per core, so single executables can access up to 8GB per node. The fourth module contains controls systems and and 8TB Panasas file system shelf. The entire system has dual Gb/s ethernet for IO and MPI communications.

The figure below shows how the head node is connected to the NW-GRID fibre network and to SuperJANET.
